DASSAN was set up in 2010 in response to growing concerns about asylum seekers in detention in Darwin.
They are a large community-based network of volunteers who support and advocate for asylum seekers, raise awareness about their plight, and work for change in Australia’s asylum and refugee policy.
For this project, we researched which online tools would be the best fit. It started with Nation Builder which is the platform the successful Obama campaign used. Nation Builder is wonderful and comprehensive – a mighty campaigning tool. However, the complexity was too much for a small volunteer organisation so we went back to old faithful WordPress and a range of online tools for campaigning.
